                                i.            Who is the speaker?

Ans: The Hitch Hiker is the speaker of this statement.

                             ii.            What was the question to which the speaker refers?

Ans : When the writer of the story ‘The Hitch-Hiker’ asked the hitch hiker that why wouldn’t he tell the speaker about his ( hitch-hiker’s) profession. Then the speaker refers above statement to the writer’s question.

                           iii.            Did the speaker eventually answer the question? How did he go about doing this?

Ans : No, the speaker eventually didn’t answer to the question. Rather after a while he told to the author that he was in a very peculiar trade and he did not mention what kind of trade that he deals with. He also noted that he had to extra careful before exposing it to anyone.

b.      They were so beautifully shaped, so slim and long and elegant…….

                                i.            What is being referred to ?

Ans : The above statement is referred to the Hitch Hiker’s fingers.

                             ii.            In what way was this feature odd?

Ans : Normally all of the people’s fingers are not in well-shaped to deal with that specific purpose like pick pocketing. But the Hitch- Hiker’s fingers are so beautifully shaped that they look odd than any other people’s fingers.

                           iii.            Why was it appropriate that they were shaped thus?

Ans : The Hitch-Hiker’s finger’s were in well shaped. His fingers were so beautifully shaped that those can be used precisely to accomplish that kind of work especially pick pocketing.
