1.      In what respects were the two girls different from other?
Ans: The two girls named Bertha Sutherland and Grace Maxwell were different in nature. Bertha was bright, pretty and popular to her classmates and teachers on the other hand Grace was a grave, quite girl and dressed in mourning.

Ans : Grace was a grave , quite girl her dressed in mourning. According to Bertha, Grace was quite alone in the world. She is an orphan girl and the aunt who had brought her up having recently died. 3.      How did Grace celebrate the good news she had received?
Ans : When Grace received the news of Bertha’s invitation by Aunt Meg, she became very glad and instantly she had expressed her joy with wistfully that it is very delightfully to plan for a friend like her (Bertha). Moreover she also wished that Bertha would have a pleasant vacation.

4.      How did Bertha celebrate the good news she had received?
Ans: After getting the good news, Bertha celebrated it fittingly. She had gone to Charter’s and spend all of her spare cash in caramels.
5.      What do we learn about the aunt from what Bertha says about her?
Ans :From the saying of Bertha we get that Aunt Meg was very friendly to the girls – Bertha Sutherland, Mary Fairweather and Louise Fyshe who would feed them what the girls like and the careful mothers condemn. We also get that Aunt Meg loves Bertha much than those of the remaining two girls.

Ans : From the statement “Mary and Lou and Lil are girls after your own heart” we get that Aunt Meg  loves Bertha much than that of Mary and Lil.
7.      What made Grace wistful?
Ans : When Bertha informed Grace happily what Aunt Meg had written to her(Bertha)  in her letter, Grace became happy. She also expressed her joy that she would be very happy if she would make a plan for her summer vacation in Aunt Meg’s house.
8.      Did Bertha think it was a good idea for Grace to work at Clarkman’s all summer?
Ans : According to Bertha’s depiction we get that Grace has become paler and thinner than that of before. She also think that Bertha could no longer stand two months at Clarkman’s Book Stall with her broken body.
9.      From what Grace and Aunt Meg say in their letters, what clues are there to indicate that Grace really was having a good time saying with Aunt Meg?
Ans : Bertha had received two letters from Aunt Meg and Grace during her summer vacation. Aunt Meg informed her that Grace has become plump and rosy. She also added that to her Grace is the sweetest girl in the world. On the other hand Grace informed that Aunt Meg said that she had to stay with her(Aunt Meg) for good. The underlined clues indicate that Grace really was having a good time staying with Aunt Meg.
