hitch-hiker was a small ratty-faced man with grey teeth. His eyes were dark and
quick and clever, like a rat’s eyes, and his ears were slightly pointed at the
top. He had a cloth cap on his head and he was wearing a greyish-colored jacket

Ans: On the fast days of the writer, he

Ans: When the driver pressed on
accelerator, then within 10 ten seconds it’s speed rose up to ninety which has
exceeded the traffic police’s red line. Instead of warning the driver, the
hitch-hiker coaxed the driver saying “Lovely, Beautiful! Keep goin!, One
hundred! A hundred and ten and fifteen” to drive faster and faster the BMW car.

Ans: The hitch hiker was reluctant to
reveal his profession because he deals with an illegal profession.

Ans : At first the police man talked

questions. The police man suspected the hitch hiker as a wicked man and he also
warned the driver about the happening incident with the driver.

Ans: The fingersmith demonstrate his
skill to the author by stealing author’s black leather belt, the lace of the
shoes, a clock , authors wrist watch and so on.

Ans: When the author made a comment that
the hitch-hiker’s profession is as like as the profession of a pickpocket. Then
the fingersmith intended to excuse his profession by uttering , “ The pickpockets
are coarse and vulgar people. Moreover they lift money from blind and old
ladies. On the other hand his job is done with skilled fingers and that is
different from a pickpocket.”

is the meaning of the phrase “hitch-hiker”?
Ans:Hitch-hiker means a traveler who travels by getting free lifts in passing
vehicles.
